dead good
life before death
“I help people plan, reflect and find meaning at end of life. Real talk and practical action with heart — helping you find some good in the grit”
why dead
good exists
Hello, I’m Emily — Doula, Director, and Founder of DEAD GOOD.
In the thick of my career as a writer and creative director for major brands and publications, my life shifted. Twenty years after my mum died unexpectedly, my dad then reached the end of his life with cancer. I was dropped into the raw reality of critical care, impossible goodbyes, funeral planning, grief, complex admin — and don’t even start me on probate.
Returning to my day job after sitting so close to death, the work no longer fit. Being with someone as they died lit a match in me, sparking a need to show up meaningfully at the edge of life — to create a fresh, open, no-BS port in the storm.
I’m now a trained and fully insured End of Life Doula, here to challenge the shame, stigma, and silence around dying, death, and grief. Through one-to-one support, workshops, and events, I offer real talk, practical guidance, and meaningful connection. DEAD GOOD is about facing hard things head-on — with grace, soul, and information that empowers choice. Plus a bit of dry humour when it’s needed most.
I look forward to knowing you.
dead good support
end of life doula
DEAD GOOD takes a deeply person-centred approach to the end of life — coming alongside you, your people, and the professionals involved, to hold space for what really matters to you.
No two endings are the same, so my role as a doula flexes to fit. That might mean helping to declutter your home, day-to-day companionship, together figuring out funeral preferences, preparing memory boxes, general hand-holding — or mixing a punchy negroni served exactly how you like it. From the weird to the wonderful, if it’s safe and legal, I’m here for it.
My job is to meet you where you are and help find a way forward that feels right. I support those around you, too — from top-tier cups of tea to clear information and helping set up grief networks.
End Of Life Doulas witness, walk alongside, and help shape the ending you hope for. I’m based on the border of Somerset, Wiltshire, and Dorset — reach out for a chat to see how I can help.
pocket doula
Death, dying, and grief are brutal enough without broken systems, messy families, death certificates, and the sheer admin of loss. Pocket Doula sessions are phone or video calls for anyone who needs practical guidance, clear information, or a steady, impartial ear when things feel heavy, confusing, or lonely. This isn’t counselling or therapy — it’s real-world support, grounded in experience. Perfect for remote, occasional check-ins on things like funeral options and navigating the practical realities that come after loss.
workshops & Talks
None of us gets through life without encountering death, bereavement, or grief — yet very few of us are prepared for it, emotionally or practically.
I host lively, informative talks and DEAD GOOD workshops for businesses and brands, designed to build death literacy, spark honest conversations, and open up new ways of thinking. From why a Will matters, to funeral options you didn’t know existed, and how to handle bereavement in the workplace.
Get in touch to discuss bringing radical, human conversations on death to your team.
